Parent Connection May 18th Issue #37

Thursday, May 21st is our final day of school. Thank you, students, teachers, and parents, for a great year!  For the last day of school, it is not required to wear the school uniform
Classes will dismiss at 11:00 a.m. for the school picnic. Parents and family are invited to join us.
The PTF is asking students from each class to bring food items to help with the picnic.
Preschool: Desserts (cookies, bars, cupcakes…)
Kindergarten: Large bags of chips
Grades 1-2: cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions
Grades 3-5: Buns  
Grades 6-8: Melon and Drinks (Capri Suns, juice boxes…) Melons already cut please.
PTF will be providing hamburger patties and hot dogs. Please have picnic items at school by Wednesday, May 20th. Items can be left in the church kitchen.

Our thanks to the Hanchime Choir and Mrs. Cindy Zarnstorff, and the Junior Choir and Mrs. Deanna Schneck for using your gifts to praise our Lord in song in our chapel services and area congregation worship services this past school year. Thanks for being a blessing to us!

Thank you to athletic director Mr. Tom Zarnstorff and the many volunteer coaches and assistants for being a blessing to our school sports programs this year. Your time, energy and efforts are appreciated!

Thank you to the Faith PTF and all the parent and family volunteers who assisted with monitoring recesses and lunches and helped with special activities throughout the year.

Our appreciation to those who volunteered at our booth at the Loussac Library Reading Rendezvous on Saturday. Thanks for being a blessing to us and the community!

You are invited to join us for our closing chapel service this Thursday, May 21st from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. Families and friends are invited to come join us in starting our day and ending our school year with the Lord.
Special thanks to the pastor and teachers who served as worship leaders at our school chapel services this year.

Five graduating students will be recognized at our worship service on Sunday, May 31st at 10:30 a.m.
Our 8th Grade Graduates:
Bradyn Boswell, Allison Klebs, Jeremiah Moua, Daniel Price, and Bennett Zanto.
On that Sunday Bradyn, Allison, Jeremiah, and Bennett will also be confirmed as adult members of Faith Lutheran Church. Their Rite of Confirmation will take place during the worship service, and graduates will receive their school diplomas following the service. Family and friends are invited to join us.
Special thanks to Pastor Brian Hackmann from Peace, Eagle River who taught our confirmation class this year.

Do you still have Boxtops for Education or Campbells Labels? Please make sure to bring any that you have collected in to school before the final day of classes. Please keep on collecting all summer for next year. Thank you for saving these for us. Special thanks to Mrs. Cindy Zarnstorff for coordinating these programs!

Parent Connection #36 May 11th

A big THANK YOU from the staff of Faith Lutheran School to the students, parents, and PTF for their meals, recess and lunch assistance, and gifts during Teacher Appreciation Week. Thank you for being a blessing to us!

Congratulations to our track team for their showing at the ACSAA State Track Meet last Saturday at Wasilla High School. Our junior high boys team took 1st place , our Elementary boys took 2nd place, and our Elementary girls took  3rd place in their respective divisions.
Special thanks to Mr. Zarnstorff for coaching our track team!
Track was the last athletic for the school year. Students who participated in athletics this year are reminded to return their sports uniforms to Mr. Zarnstorff as soon as possible.

On Saturday, May 16th our school will hosting a booth at the Loussac Library’s Reading Rendezvous. We are also looking for volunteers to help run the booth. If you are willing and able, please speak to Mrs. Zarnstorff.
We need paper tubes from toilet paper and paper towels for our craft at our booth. Please collect all you can and bring them in to the school. Thanks!

There will be a work day at Camp Luther Alaska in Wasilla coming up on Saturday, May 16th. Do your children and family make use of Camp Luther’s programs and facilities? This is a great opportunity to help us out by giving back. Both “skilled” and “unskilled” labor is needed. We have some roof and step repair that is especially urgent. Can you give us a hand? Please contact Fred or Stacey Koenig if you would like to help out.

Chapel Service
You are invited to join us for our weekly chapel service this Thursday, May 14th from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. Our chapel service message will be presented by Pastor Ewings. This week’s theme: Living for Jesus Means Being a Blessing (Onesiphorus). Families and friends are invited to come join us in starting our day with the Lord.

Piano Recital
The students of Mrs. Zarnstorff and Mrs. Schneck will be presenting a piano recital on Thursday,  May 14th at 4:30 p.m. All are invited to come and enjoy this showcase of the students’ achievements of the past year. Light refreshments will be served following.

SPRING PARKING LOT SALE
Faith Teens and Faith PTF are holding our spring Parking Lot Sale, which is scheduled for Saturday, May 30th. Camp Luther is allowing the Faith Teens to benefit from this sale along with the Faith PTF. Donations can be brought to the school at any time. Any gently used clothing, household goods, tools, toys, etc. are appreciated.

Teacher Appreciation Week

Remember this week is teacher appreciation week.  Take a moment to thank your child's teacher for all the work they do with our children.  
You can still help out with lunch and recess, stop by the school in the morning to find out when or contact Mary Klebs at 727-2326.  
If you would like to donate to the teacher's dinner, send the donation to the school office.

Parent Connection May 4th Issue #35

Thank you, Faith Students, for entertaining our school family and  letting your lights shine at our “Broadway” Spring Fling on Friday!

Co-Ed Track and Field
Track and Field practice continues this week on Tuesday, May 5th and Thursday, May 7th from 4:00 to 5:45 p.m. This week’s practices will be held at Cuddy Park. Parents may pick up their child at the park at 5:45 p.m. or back at school at 6:00 p.m.

The ACSAA State Track Meet is this Saturday, May 9 at the Wasilla High School track in Wasilla starting at 10:00 a.m. Athletes should be there by 9:30 a.m. to warm up. Mr. Zarnstorff will share more information with the track team and parents as it becomes available.

Congratulations to our track team for their showing at FLS Invitational Track Meet last Saturday at Wendler.
Special thanks to Mr. Zarnstorff for coaching our track team, and to the many volunteers who ran the events and tallied results.

Parents’ Night Out
The last Parents’ Night Out is this Friday, May 8th from 6:00-9:00 p.m.
This will be a bike / scooter night! Children can be dropped off with their bikes or scooters to use on the parking lot. PLEASE NOTE: HELMETS ARE REQUIRED. Children will not be allowed to use their bikes or scooters unless they bring their own helmet and wear it while riding.
Sign-up for this Parents’ Night Out on the poster in the school hallway.
We appreciate the parents who have volunteered all year to organize and chaperone our Parents’ Night Out activities.

The end of school is quickly approaching.  Time to start bringing in the sports uniforms.  Please return the teal and soccer uniforms.  The black uniform should be returned next week after the meet.
