Parent Connection April 11th

Congratulations to our Soccer team who took first place at the ACSAA Indoor Soccer Tournament this last weekend with an amazing final second goal. Well done, Huskies!
Special thanks to Miss Melissa Mittelstadt, Mr. Andy Zanto, and Mr. Trevor Zarnstorff for serving as our soccer coaches this season!

Co-Ed Track and Field practice begins this week. Track is open to both boys and girls in grades 4 through 8. Practices this week are Tuesday, April 12th and Thursday, April 14th from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. This week’s practices will be held at the Cuddy Family Midtown Park, on the B Street Side. Parents may pick up their child at the park at 5:30 p.m. or back at school at 5:45 p.m.
We still can use volunteers to coach and assist. If you are willing and able to help us out, please contact Mr. Zarnstorff.

Junior Choir meets this week Wednesday, April 13th at 12:20 p.m.
The Junior Choir will be singing at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Wasilla on Sunday, April 17th. The service starts at 10:30 a.m. The choir members should be there by 10:15 a.m. to prepare. Anyone needing a ride on Sunday should speak to Mrs. Schneck.
Following the service the Junior Choir will head out to Camp Luther for a picnic. Parents and families are welcome to join the choir for this activity. Students getting a ride from Mrs. Schneck will be back in town in the church parking lot for their parents to pick them up by 2:00 p.m.

You are invited to join us for our weekly school chapel service this Thursday, April 14th, from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. Families and friends are invited to come and join us in starting our day with the Lord!
Handchime Choir meets this week on Thursday, April 14th at 12:30 p.m.

Kids’ Day is an annual event held at the Dena’ina Center on Saturday, April 16th from 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. showcasing programs available for the children of the Anchorage area. Each year Faith Lutheran School has a booth with an activity for kids and information on our school and pre-school program for families.
We can still use volunteers to help at our booth. If you are able to help, even for just an hour or two, please contact Mrs. Zarnstorff.

Coming up on Tuesday, April 26th, our school will be receiving some special visitors. Mr. Paul Hartwig and Mr. Greg Schmill from our synod’s WELS Commission on Lutheran Schools will be visiting our school to help us with a school assessment. As we look to the future, our congregation’s School Focus Group and our Board for Lay Ministry have invited these experienced gentlemen to come and visit our school with the purpose of helping us to assess our preschool and elementary school programs and give us advice on improvement of Faith’s school ministry. They will be briefly visiting each of the classrooms in action, as well as meeting with teachers, support staff, and leadership.
During their visit they would also like to meet with a focus group of school parents interested in sharing their perspective on Faith Lutheran School and Faith Lutheran Preschool. This focus group would meet on Tuesday, April 26th from 3:45-4:45 p.m. Any parents interested and able to attend this meeting would be welcome and appreciated. Please contact Mr. Schneck if you would like to participate. We will provide free child care for those attending the meeting.
If you have any questions about this visit, please feel free to contact Mr. Schneck.
Coming up on Wednesday, April 20th, we will be holding a Kindergarten Round-Up Open House from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Children and parents will be able to visit our Kindergarten classroom, see our curriculum, meet other parents and participate in activities.  Information about our Kindergarten and Elementary school programs will be available, as well as a tour of our facilities. If you would like to participate, please contact the school office to register.
If you know of any other families that might be interested, please share this information with them. Extra flyers are available in the school office.

PTF Meeting – Tuesday April 12th, at 7:00pm. On the agenda is Kid’s Day, Teacher Appreciation Week, Field Day and End of School Picnic.  Please make an effort to attend.  PTF is a great way to get involved in your child’s life and support their school. Election of new officers will be at the meeting in May. PTF has 4 officers: Chair, Co-chair, Secretary and Treasurer.  Secretary and Treasurer may be held by non-members of Faith Lutheran Church.  If you are interested or know someone who you would like to nominate, complete the attached form and drop off at the office or with one of the teachers or email the office at faithlutheran@gci.net

Thanks to the students and families of Faith, who put their pennies and small (and big!) change together in the last month for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Pennies for Patients! We took a few extra days to collect, so we will announce the results at chapel this Thursday. Thanks again for supporting this worthy cause.

The following are invitations to our school family from Faith Lutheran Church events this week:
