Parent Connection September 25

Run to Get the Prize
Last Saturday, the Alaska Christian Schools Athletic Association held its annual state cross country meet. We had three runners who represented the school at this meet. These three had been working hard since the beginning of the school year to compete in this one race. We had worked on endurance and hill climbing and strategy to run a good race from beginning to end. I was very pleased with the results of the races. I think the students feel that they did their best.
“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore, I do not run like a man running aimlessly…”  I Corinthians 9: 24-26.
This is how the Apostle Paul compares the life of a believer to the races carried out in his day. He urges the believers to be focused on the goal, to be serious about your training for the race, and to run to get the prize. Don’t run aimlessly but run to get the crown that will last forever. Of course, we cannot achieve victory by our own efforts, we need to be credited with the triumph won for us by our Savior. In him, our victory is secure.

PTF Update
Thank you to all who attended the first meeting last week.  Our first big event is Trunk or Treat scheduled for October 27th, 5-7pm.  Miss Mittelstadt will be coordinating this event.  Please contact her at FaithLutheranPreschoolAK@gmail.com if you would like to help.  Volunteers are needed to decorate a car, help with the photo booth, organize pumpkin decorating, donate candy and goodies for cake walk, and get lights and such for the parking lot.  There will be a meeting on October 11th at 7pm dedicated to Trunk or Treat preparations.
Hot Lunches will begin on October 19th.
PTF will be purchasing new basketball goals, sports equipment for recess, rugs for the hallways, and some canopies.  Look for more information in the coming weeks.
Art work is being sent to finalize the sweatshirts and spirit wear.  We will be ordering from a local company this year.  Once the artwork is finalized we can finalize a price and start the orders.
Do you have ideas or events for the school?  Contact Sheila Lillo at Sheila.Lillo@gmail.com to get your ideas heard and put into action.  Our next general PTF meeting will be in November.

School Yearbook
We are looking forward to putting this year’s memories to paper, which means it’s time to get the yearbook up and running.  However, it won’t be a success without parents’ involvement.  You should have received an email from our yearbook coordinator, Renee Tegen, with an explanation about how TreeRing works along with a link and instructions to set up your account.  If you have questions, please call or text Renee at 402-516-6911.

Meet Your Teachers Monday
Each week there will be a trivia question posted on the school Facebook page. This question will point to one of your teachers or staff members. Be the first to answer correctly and win a prize. The answer will be revealed on Facebook on Friday.  The answer to last week’s trivia question was Ms. Mittelstadt.  Congratulations to Elijah Corwin for guessing the correct answer!  Make sure to check the school’s Facebook page for this week’s question.
