On
Solid Ground
In the
building industry, one cannot stress the importance of a solid foundation too
much. If you want your building to last, pay attention to the ground upon which
you are building. You need to start your project by digging down to something
solid, ideally bedrock, you can’t get much more solid than that. You dig out
that which is not solid and backfill with gravel, compacted to make it more
solid. You lay your foundation on that solid ground and build your building
knowing that when the storms beat upon that building, it will stand. When the
ground beneath it shakes and shimmies, the building will remain intact.
In
building your life and guiding your child’s building of his or her life, the
same principles apply. Each of us has to have something solid to build upon. We
need something that won’t change or shift or erode away when the storms of life
assault us. There is only one foundation that is solid and certain to last:
that is Christ, our Savior. In every trial and trouble in life, He holds us
safely in His loving arms, guarding and protecting us from every evil. He is
the sure foundation for eternity.
“The rain came down, the streams rose,
and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it didn’t fall, because it
had its foundation on the rock.” Matthew 7:25.
